Arising out of a partnership between Service Canada and Nouveaux Horizons, L'Agraff is a program for seniors that gives Francophone and Francophile retirees and seniors the opportunity to live and thrive in their French culture. If you are a Francophone or Francophile retiree or senior, la Société francophone de Victoria invites you to join l'Agraff.
L’Agraff is an SFV project that aims to tap into the collective memory, strength and experience of its members so that they can participate in the ongoing development of Victoria’s Francophone community. The retirees and the seniors’ community of Victoria is a well-established and organized group which has great expertise in networking. This experience allows seniors in particular to directly contribute to the development of the Francophone community. L’Agraff is instrumental in uniting and inspiring a generation which is integral to our community, a generation that continues to connect us to our French heritage and to our Francophone culture of today.
As a member of L'Agraff, you will have the opportunity to participate in many social and cultural activities with your peers such as:
- monthly outings to restaurants in and around Victoria
- Francofete - annual fall celebration featuring lovely catered meal, movies and special workshops
- Organized bus tours. Past outings have included visiting vineyards, Saanich gardens, sand castles in Nanaimo, apple picking in Salt Spring Island to name a few
- Special projects - a recent project in collaboration with L'Ecole Brodeur resulted in a piece de theatre called "Au fil du temps...Theatre intergenerationnel", a play that eloquently captures the older and the younger generations sharing their points of view.
If you are interested in joining L’Agraff, please contact La Société francophone de Victoria at 250-388-7350 or by e-mail at sfv@francocentre.com
